Exploring Italy’s Red Superstars with Ian D'Agata
Ian D’Agata has been speaking and writing about wine for over thirty years. An award winning writer, his Native Wine Grapes of Italy (Ed. University of California Press) was named 2015 Louis Roederer International Wine Awards Book of the Year, the first time an Italian wine writer has ever won the award. He has been named numerous times Italy’s best wine writer and in 2016 was nominated by French wine estate owners and winemakers as one of the world’s eight best international wine writers (Les Plumes d’Or awards). Ian is the Senior Editor of Vinous, one of the world's most influential wine publications, where he writes mainly on the wines of Italy, Canada, and France. He is the Scientific Director of the new 3iC (Italian Indigenous International Center) Wine and Food School in Barolo, the director of Indigena, a wine festival devoted annually to Italy's native grapes and wines, and is the Creative director of Collisioni Vino & Food project, Italy’s largest music, literature and enogastronomy festival held annually in Barolo (www.iandagata.com).
We are delighted to welcome Ian D'Agata and his wealth of knowledge on Italian wines to Il Collettivo once again as the host of both our masterclasses.
This year we will be exploring Italy's red superstars: Nebbiolo, Sangiovese and Nerello Mascalese. We will taste 10 wines, looking in depth at these unique varietals, the terroirs in which they flourish and analysing their future in international wine trade.
There will be two masterclasses on the day:
10.30 - 11.15 am
3.30 - 4.15 pm
